Hiding behind a name reminiscent of abundance or excess is Javier Yunes (guitar, piano and vocals), a musician born in Córdoba, Argentina who spent his entire childhood and adolescence in Catamarca (along with Supernova, his first group, he supported Babasónicos during Jessico’s performance in the city). He is now permanently settled in Buenos Aires, and after recording the first the.plethora.project album alone, he added Fernando Baes (programming and keyboards) to the band in order to perform it live. The results were positive and it brought them to record this EP (together with Tomás Raitzin on bass), which serves as a teaser for what will be the next album by the project, which is now a full band.
It’s called Elephants Sound Asleep and it is composed of four songs that create an atmosphere of tense calm throughout the EP, each one with distinct elements that subtly differentiate them from each other. For example, on Backlight, the track that opens the disc, distorted guitars have a lot of presence, while the song that follows it is more experimental and noisy. On Plevoir and White elephants of Atlantis the acoustic sound of the piano meshes very well with the minimalist electronic backing and the singer’s sorrowful voice.
But what we have to say has little importance when you have the possibility of downloading the entire EP and listening to it for yourself. Here are the links:
